At their December 9 business meeting, the WCBOE did NOT elect Guessford to any leadership position. Mr. Darrell Evans was elected President and Dr. April Zentmeyer was elected Vice-President. UPDATE: Patriots rallied across Washington County on October 18 to declare their love of country, support for democracy, and to oppose our nation’s slide into autocracy.
A small group gathered at the intersection of routes 64 & 77 in Smithsburg. About 27 concerned Homewood residents held signs and waved flags at cars on Virginia Avenue. Later, 57 Boonsboro area patriots held a pep rally for democracy on the sidewalk in front of the National Road Museum. From 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm nearly 1300 patriotic Americans swarmed the square in downtown Hagerstown for the No Kings rally hosted by Washington County Indivisible. There were speakers, songs, flags, chants, signs, costumes, balloons, and a march stretching around the block. All the rallies saw new faces of friends and neighbors who had never been to a protest before and were standing up for the first time to oppose the anti-democratic actions of the Trump regime. The rallies received mostly positive waves and comments from cars passing by, far outnumbering negative shouts and gestures. On October 18 Washington County proudly claimed its place in history as part of the more than 2600 rallies nationwide attended by over 7 million people. UPDATE: Yes, the rain came eventually, but a little drizzle couldn't dampen the spirits of the roughly 100 patriots who turned out this afternoon for a couple of hours of music, conversation and theater. Special thanks to Good Trouble Troubadours and John Cantor for the music. A big thank you to our speakers: Del. Matthew Schindler, Ninfa Amador of CASA, Sebastian Brown of the ACLU, Taj Smith of NAACP, Pastor Mac, Jason McGill and Michael Pate. And a huge shout-out to Dale Stein for pulling all these moving pieces together and making them all work together. Amazing! We have so much work ahead of us - but we can do this - together.

UPDATE:
More than 150 patriots showed up on Sept. 1 in Hagerstown’s Public Square to celebrate Labor Day by expressing their demand to put #WorkersOverBillionaires. Speakers included Carol Mowen of the Washington County Teachers Association, Chip Cook, president of the Central Maryland AFL-CIO Council, and Stewart Acuff, former special assistant to the president of the AFL-CIO. The message was simple: The USA needs a system that works for all of us, not just the billionaires. It’s time to put #WorkersOverBillionaires. Public Square of Hagerstown / Sept. 1, 2025 noon to 1: 30 p.m.
UPDATE:
On Friday night, Aug. 15, a wide variety of performers from the community showed up to share their joy and passion in the Protest Art Show, which ran from Aug. 15- 16 at the Omni Creative Center, 35 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown. As a side benefit, we could see all the protest art that adorned the walls of the center. About 150 Patriots showed up in the Public Square of Hagerstown on Saturday, Aug. 16, one of the nation-wide protests against the power grab by Trump and his Republican enablers. So many reasons for protesting, so little time! We were protesting the tax giveaways for billionaires. We were protesting the illegal seizure of Americans by ICE. We were protesting the troops sent by Trump to the streets of Washington, DC as a blatant distraction from the Epstein List. (Right. We’re not forgetting about the Epstein List. Where are those files?) As always, we were demonstrating in favor of democracy and the rule of law. Following the demonstration, Washington County Indivisible presented a panel discussion about the effects of the Republican’s billionaire tax giveaway. Among the effects of the Big Horrible Bill signed by Trump on July 4 are slashed Medicaid rolls, less support for local governments, more environmental degradation, an even larger national debt, and more funds for illegal seizures of US residents. Hosted by Franklin County Indivisible
UPDATE: about 93 patriots rallied for America on July 5 in Waynesboro June 14, 2025
