The UDWC Board of Directors is excited to announce an upcoming event to support our local 2026 Democratic candidates. We are coming together to raise the vital funds they need to run strong campaigns, and we would love for you to be a part of it. You’ll find all the details in the attached flyer. To make this gathering a true success, we are looking for a little extra help from our club members in two special ways:
  • Raffle Baskets: We are putting together themed baskets and would be so grateful for donations! Current themes include Tea, Coffee, Patriotic, and Goody baskets—but if you have a unique idea of your own, we’d love to hear about it.
  • Sweet Treats: We are also hoping to offer some delicious baked goods. If you’re able to provide cookies, small muffins, or pastries, etc. they would be a very welcome addition to the event.
The number on the flyer is my telephone number.  I may be hard to reach so leave your name and number so that I can return the call or respond to this email and I can call you.

Thanks,

Mary McPherson
UDWC Secretary

📚 Voices and Views Book Club — 2026 Reading List

We’re excited to share our 2026 book club lineup! Voices and Views is a welcoming space to connect with like-minded neighbors through thoughtful reading and meaningful conversation.

As always, reading the book is never required. Some reads may challenge us, others may comfort or inspire, and many will spark both outrage and hope.

Whether you join us every month or drop in when you can, there’s a seat at the table for you. We look forward to another year of learning, listening, and community.

From Jess McKinley's Facebook post:

"Coming out from the shadows is a new mutual aid organization, co-founded by Noah McKinley and I. We’re thrilled to introduce Empathy+Action=Change

This group is powered by passionate volunteers who believe in empathy, direct action, and creating real change in our community. If you're passionate about mutual aid and want to get involved locally, we’d love to hear from you!

Big Announcement:
Hagerstown Branch of DSA has invited EAC to partner with them to launch Hagerstown’s very first Community Fridge! Thank you Eliza’s House for sharing your fridge.
The fridge officially opens on Tuesday, November 4th inside Eliza’s House (35 N Potomac St).

Please share this post and help spread the word. Stay tuned for more updates about EAC and reach out if you’re ready to be part of something meaningful."
